Childhood Sexual Abuse isn’t just a tragedy — it is a Public Health Emergency
For decades, Dr. Carroll has been treating victims of sexual abuse in the pediatric ER. One in ten children experiences sexual abuse before the age of 18—making it more common than any childhood illness or injury that parents routinely hear about preventing. This is a public health crisis. Yet, families are not equipped to talk about it. Kids are not prepared to protect themselves. Dr. Carroll is working to reshape the cultural dialogue and make child protection a priority.
Dr. Bronwen Carroll never intended to write a book – especially not one on childhood sexual abuse. But after years of treating abused children in the emergency room and experiencing a reckoning in her own community, she knew it was time to speak out.
